Authorship Transparency Identifier
A free, open registry where authors and publishers publicly declare how AI was, or wasn’t, used in a book.
Self-declared and not verified. A transparency record, not a certification.
Three labels, one symbol
Human Authored (HA)
The author or authors originated and wrote all of the text. No generative AI wrote, rewrote, translated or expanded any of it, and no wording, passage or plot point that an AI generated or suggested appears in it.
AI Master Edited (AME)
The story, ideas and structure originate with the human author, who directed the AI and reviewed and approved every change. AI served as editor, researcher, sounding board or continuity checker, and may have revised or rewritten the author’s own text under that direction.
AI Co-Authored (ACA)
Human and AI materially collaborated in creating the expressive content: AI originated new passages, scenes, chapters or dialogue that appear in the work, with a human directing, selecting and editing.
How it works
- DeclareDescribe in plain words how AI was used in your book, and for any cover art, illustrations, narration or translation. You confirm your email address once; it is never published.
- Receive an IDAn identifier such as ATI-2026-000001-7KQ4 is assigned automatically, with a public record page.
- Show itPut the label and ID on your copyright page or store listing and link readers to the record.
Open by intent
- Free for every author and publisher.
- Public. Every declaration has its own public page and a permanent ID. Definitions and marks are CC BY 4.0, and the registry may later release its records as open data.
- Accountable. Records carry a date and history, and anyone can report a problem.
- Independent by intent. This is a founder-run pilot with no board seated yet. See governance.
