Accountability

Disputes and corrections

Records are self-declared, so the registry relies on openness and a fair way to challenge them.

Reporting a problem

Anyone can report a problem with a record, using the link on the record’s page or the report form. Please say which ID, what you believe is inaccurate, and, where you can, point to evidence. Reports go privately to the maintainers and are not published. Keep to the facts, and give an email address if you would like a reply.

What happens

  • The report is acknowledged and a maintainer reviews it as capacity allows. This is a volunteer-run pilot, so there is no guaranteed response time.
  • A maintainer may contact the registrant for a response. The record may be corrected, annotated, withdrawn or removed.
  • While a serious concern is unresolved, the record may be marked disputed, with a short neutral note. Marking a record disputed is not a finding that it is false.
  • If the record is shown to be inaccurate, abusive, an impersonation, or otherwise in breach of the Terms, it may be corrected, withdrawn or removed. Withdrawn records stay visible with their status. Removed records show only their ID, status and dates. IDs are never reused.

What the registry does not do

It does not investigate how a book was written, compare texts, run detection tools or decide who the “real” author is. It records declarations and the challenges made to them.

Legal requests

If you believe a record infringes your rights, say so in your report and include the details needed to act on it.
